Pincushion
Please note: these pictures are examples, each of these are slightly different, but function the same.
A shallow take on a pincushion, these are a great alternative to sticking your pins and in-use needles into the arm of the sofa.
8cm x 11cm.
High quality black marl felt on one side but leather on the other, these pincushions prevent the loss of sharps through the back and unexpectedly being pricked in the hand. If put in at an angle pins will go in all the way when desired.
They are stuffed with recycled polyester filling which used to be plastic bottles.
A flatter profile means they’re very easy to slip into the small spaces of sewing boxes and great as a last minute addition to a portable sewing bag.
These pieces are entirely hand cut, glued, and stitched by myself.
They are lightly oiled to condition them, which also brings out the imperfections in the leather. You can oil them further if you want to darken the colour; I use hempseed oil, but any kitchen oil such as olive or sunflower seed oil will also work. Simply rub generously into the leather with a piece of fabric. Your leather will darken naturally over time, ageing nicely, especially if out in the sun.
