Needlecases

£40.00

Please note: these pictures are examples, each of these are slightly different, but function the same.

Just a fancy little place to keep your sewing needles, from your sharps to your bookbinders.

8cm x 8cm, unfolded 8cm x 24cm.

There are two kinds of these little booklets - rough up to the edge of the leather and cut precisely uniform. The rougher version may be slightly longer or shorter than 24cm, and each closure is placed individually where it needs to be, with more imperfection and uniqueness, while the cut version is sleek and quietly elegant. The “pages” are of a high quality black marl felt about 2mm thick and with enough texture to hold needles firmly in place. There are four leaves, each 7cm x 7.5cm. Folded, these fit nicely in your sewing kit or toolbox.

These pieces are entirely hand cut, glued, and stitched by myself.

They are lightly oiled to condition them, which also brings out the imperfections in the leather. You can oil them further if you want to darken the colour; I use hempseed oil, but any kitchen oil such as olive or sunflower seed oil will also work. Simply rub generously into the leather with a piece of fabric. Your leather will darken naturally over time, ageing nicely, especially if out in the sun.
